My Charming Stars

Hi Everyone!  I've been spending as much time outdoors as I can, enjoying the sunshine and tidying up the yard.  I usually cut down all my plants in the fall but for some reason I left everything last year and boy, oh, boy am I ever regretting that decision!  I've yet to plant any seeds, but I did check out a few garden centres and came away with a few favourite plants, blue lobelias and some snapdragons.  Spending my days outdoors leaves me too tired to do very much sewing in the evening, but I had a burst of energy tonight and finished up a project I began a few months ago.

Enjoy!

My Charming Stars flimsy is finally done.  No borders to add, so I hope to get the quilt sandwich done this week so I can begin quilting this one by week's end.

More projects in the works.  I've put my hallowe'en wallhanging up on the design wall because I'm hoping it will motivate me to actually get this one finished!

A few more fabrics I picked up today...who can resist dancing skeletons?? :-)

Charming stars

Hello everyone!  I've finally managed to complete my "charming stars" blocks and they are ready for sashing, cornerstones and a border.  Now that my sewing room is in working order...sort of...I hope to get this done as soon as possible.

I love the cheerful fabric, it's 'Dilly Dally' from Me and My Sister Designs.  I've really become a fan of theirs this past year, they have great designs and their fabric is always so cheerful...lots of fun.  Check out their blog if you have the time: http://meandmysisterdesigns.com/blog/

Oh yes, in case you are wondering about the pattern for this quilt, you can find it at Moda's Bake Shop:  http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/10/charming-stars-quilt.html#more

Enjoy!

Had a sewing day with friends yesterday and I managed to finish the last two blocks for this quilt.

Finally done, now on to putting it together!

I'm making my quilt smaller than the original pattern as I only had two packs of charm squares.  No matter, I think it will be perfect as a lap quilt.

A little sewing is better than none

Hello everyone!  Thought I'd show you some of the progress I'm making on two of my projects:  the Cool Blues & my charm square stars.

I spent this past Wednesday over at my friend Sue's house and we did some quilting, as we usually do...she has been a godsend during the renovation.  She welcomes me into her home, provides a wonderful lunch and I bring the eclairs...mmmh, I think I'm getting the better deal!!  I managed to make all of the hourglass blocks I need for my Cool Blues quilt and made one more block on my charm square stars project...here's the link for the pattern, in case you missed it last time...

I tested out the pattern, using Dilly Dally fabric from Me & My Sister Designs and some white Kona solid...I really liked the results.

Two more squares and six to go.  I only have two charm square packages and cannot find another in any of the quilt stores in town...so I'm making a smaller version instead.

Here are a few of the blue and white blocks made for my Cool Blues quilt.

This has been sitting in my sewing room for a few months and it's time to git'er done...this is my second PhD project and I would love to finish it by the end of the month!
