It's a long, long, long, process...

....divorce, that is.  It will be over soon, or so I keep telling myself.  In the meantime, I managed to squeeze in some time to finish my placemat.  What a cheery way to start the morning, having my Lucky Charms (or oatmeal if I'm feeling like a grownup) on a little something I made.

One made and one more to go!

Gratuitous shot of the back - kept the quilting very simple.

Since I took this photo last October, I've made the quilt sandwich, quilted most of the top, decided that I really don't like the quilting after all and am now in the process of picking out the stitches...fun times!

This was meant to be the center medallion on my divorce quilt, but I don't really feel like doing anything more with it.  Time to put it away...on to better things, right? ;-)

Enjoy!
Mary-Frances

  5. Hang in there, MF. It will get better.

I really like the divorce quilt. Maybe you could rename it the recovery quilt to inspire you to finish it. Perhaps make the next border nice and bright--that silver you used for the X as the background with cheerful red and purple stars going all around....something like that to show the dark days getting better.

The placemat is very cheerful. Just what you need to start each day. The simple quilting works great on that design.

  6. Divorce is difficult, but there are just too many things to do to let it get you down for too long. So get your paper and pencil, a cup of hot steaming coffee and a snack, and start making that list!!

  7. Wonderful placemat - so cheery! And I love that blue and white, especially the way the pieced blocks 'overlap'.

  8. My friend made a sort of "bucket list" after her divorce. bought a motorcycle and learned to ride it. She has since sold it. Went on a hot air balloon ride - but she still hasn't gone to see Machu Picchu. I agree with Zoey and think that you should rename the quilt Recovery and finish it with something bright. Then, if you don't like it at all, give it away.
