Things are starting to come together

Hello everyone!  Thought you might want to see what new and fun things have been done to the house this week.  We finally have a functioning oven again...yoohoo!  Three weeks of eating out isn't as wonderful as it might sound! :-)  The hardwood is almost finished, just a few little pieces to go in before it's one hundred percent complete.  A little work was done on the ensuite as well.  Although we have more work to do, everything is beginning to take shape...the end is near!!

Our hardwood floor is looking lovely.  I'm very pleased with the colour.



The oven is back in place and fully functioning.  Now to get the pantry door back on...it's mighty dusty in there.



The shower fixtures were added this week.

Ta-dah...a new low-flow toilet.  Yes, I really did post a photo of this on my blog...if you had paid as much as I did for this thing, you would do the same! ;-)  Seriously though, who knew these things were so expensive!!



Oops, we have a little more work to do, but it's getting there.



Smells like...fresh paint!

Hello everyone!  Ah, yes, the wonderful odour of fresh paint.  There's nothing quite like it, makes you want to throw open all the windows, even in the middle of winter!! ;-)  Such is the smell of progress when you're renovating, isn't it.  Other than painting, some work was done on the master ensuite...I'm that much closer to having my shower back, yoohoo!  And, the best news of all....my washer and dryer are back where they belong and working overtime.  Who knew a functioning laundry room could bring such joy!! :-0

Slow progress

Hello everyone!  Just thought I'd show you what's happening with the reno.  After the hustle and bustle of tearing things apart, things came to a standstill this week.  This is my first renovation, so I have to assume this is par for the course.  The contractor told me it would take two weeks to get the whole job done....nudge, nudge, wink, wink...I knew enough to take that with a grain of salt. So, here we are, two weeks in, and although far from done, we do have some shiny new tile floor in the house...can I get a whoop, whoop?!

The back entrance and powder room also have new tile as well.  Really looking forward to having our washer and dryer set up again!!

Our bedroom door in the shower, of course, makes perfect sense to me (lol)!  I'm told this room will be finished this week...fingers and toes crossed people!! 



Renovation update

Hello everyone!  I'd like to begin by welcoming Maureen to the blog.  Thank you for signing up, appreciate it!

Well, the fun has begun folks, the house is topsy-turvy and we are basically living out of the basement or in my sewing room.  The contractor and his crew arrived Tuesday morning at 8 am and they were ready to start ripping up carpet and tearing out linoleum.  I spent the day with a friend and when I returned, the dishwasher was in the living room, dirty dishes and all and the fridge and oven were right next to it.  Looks like I'll be using my dialing finger to whip up our evening meals for the next little while :-)!

What is wrong with this picture?  Seems to me a few appliances have gone missing, in addition to a whole kitchen island.



I'm sure there was a stove here at some point...yes, yes, I do recall making a meal or two there. ;-)  I'm glad we still have the microwave to use, se we don't have to eat out for every meal (which gets to be tedious after a while).



Aha!  There's the missing stove and dishwasher!  And quite a few packages of wood flooring. No sign of the tile yet, hopefully it will be here tomorrow.



Going....going....gone!!

Hello everyone!  We'll I've had a busy weekend of packing up the house getting ready for the renovations.  The crew is supposed to arrive at 8 am tomorrow morning, raring to rip up carpet and tear into the linoleum.  I'm not sure what I'll be doing tomorrow, but it won't be working in my sewing room, that's for sure!  Guess I'll just have to go shopping...haha!!

 By Friday all of the photos, paintings, prints were put away...

  

Made a big dent on Saturday with most of the lighter furniture moved to the basement.



On Sunday everything else was moved into the basement or upstairs in my sewing room.



This is what my sewing room looks like at the moment.  If I squeeze in behind the chairs, I can make it to the sewing machine...hooray!  I won't have to pack it away just yet!
